The Woolstore Project The White Room Outreach Programme have been using The Woolstore warehouse, on Te Ana Marina in Lyttelton for the last five weeks to create a large-scale art project. From July 27 to August 27 we have been taking groups of artists out to Lyttelton to work on some large-scale artworks. The artists have experimented in trying new things, while making some great art along the way. It has been a great opportunity. On Saturday 27th August the conclusion of the project is an exhibition and show, with such an amazing space to use it is the perfect opportunity to exhibit all the artworks accumulated over the years and to raise some funds for the outreach programme and artists. All the works are being sold at a special price during The Woolstore exhibition, as it was felt that it would be better for the artist's work to be enjoyed and appreciated, rather than sitting hidden away in storage. It will also be a chance for a few groups to perform such as the Outreach Dance group and the Te Roopu Tuhono Kapa Haka group. The SkillWise carving group will present their pou made at the Whakaraupo Carving Centre Trust in Lyttelton. Slap City! will run a paste-up sticker workshop, and the event will also include live music, food and drink, a silent auction, and a raffle with some great prizes! We would like to say a big thank you to all of the people who have helped make this happen, particularly Te Ana Marina for allowing us to use the space.
