Why Bread? The Place People Pizza Project is about connecting with people who live near four pizza/bread ovens in Christchurch. So, using a sourdough starter to start the projects seems to be the best place to begin connecting with people. By encouraging people to make their own sourdough starter allows us to all make a local pizza dough, that will combine everyones starter. This will be repeated at each of the four sites and at the end of the project a final pizza dough will be produced that combines starter from all the communities, resulting in a connected, thriving, and flourishing starter. Below is information about each of 3 sites, Richmond Community Gardens, Phillipstown Community Hub, and The Commons. At the bottom of the page are links to files about starting your own sourdough starter, how to dry it, and how to revive it, along with a file on making a simple sourdough loaf.
