What is the Outreach Programme? The White Room is a creative space that supports artists with intellectual disabilities. In 2021, The White Room received funding from Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture & Heritage to remove access barriers to the arts. This funding has allowed The White Room to implement an Outreach Program as an extension of the creative space. The Outreach Program is designed to include the whole Ōtautahi community. It does this by supporting artists with disabilities into the wider arts community, and by inviting the wider community into The White Room. Below is a link to our first Outreach Programme report, in easy read format. Blaire Rosie-Forrester Blaire is an artist with experience in a variety of mediums from pastel, painting, drawing and printmaking. With experience from her own practice as well as having worked with arts materials, her aim is to introduce people to all the wonderful mediums and give them the tools to continue their own arts journey. Josiah Morgan Josiah is an artist working across forms including theatre, dance and writing. Using his background in these forms and in education, Josiah will be introducing art forms beyond the purely visual into The White Room’s program. By engaging in these art forms, participants in the program will be able to expand their practice to span multiple modes of communication.
